In English teaching, asking students to give a presentation at the beginning of a lesson has been applied for a long time, especially widely used in college courses, which gains in approval and popularity with teachers and students. It plays a positive role in arousing students’ interest in learning English and improving their language proficiency, which is seen as an ordinary and effective teaching method. However, this method is limited employed in English class in junior high school. Language skills of the students of this age group are still at primary stage, so teachers haven’t enough belief in making presentations in English. In addition, they have to complete the task of teaching and facing the serious challenge of the academic pressure. Therefore teachers are too anxious to accept the method for they view it as a waste of time or not achieving the desired results.The author encourages the students to make presentations in English class in junior high school all through, and attempts to improve the theme, content, form, standards of grading and so on during the proceeding. How to make the students become the main body of using the language, increase language competence by presentation becomes the central issue and the author makes great efforts to find a more acceptable and beloved teaching method.107 students in two classes from Experimental Middle School in Huhhot are chosen to be the subjects, 52 in Class Three(Experimental Class), 55 in Class Four(Control Class). The purpose of the experiment focuses on whether students’ communicative abilities will be improved with students’ presentation applied in English class in junior high school. Two spoken tests, two questionnaires and interviews are involved in this research to testify that the application of students’ presentation is effective to improve students’ oral English proficiency.The thesis is divided into five chapters. The author orderly represents the introduction of presentation, literature review, the research design and implement, data collection and analysis, and conclusion. At length the author re-states that it’s a worthy attempt to apply students’ presentation in English class in junior high school and produces positive force in arousing learning interest, promoting oral English level and fulfilling students’ self-actualizing.
