| In a basketball match, the passes conducted by an assisting player is the most vital way of building attacks, cooperating tactically and getting shots. In view of the increasingly fierce attack-defense in the game, and of the improved skills of the players on both sides, it requires an assisting player performs better in both technical and tactical ways And only by achieving the potentials of each player, can we hope to updating the strength of a team. As for the2012Olympic Games in London, we can see that the China men’s basketball team failed in all the five contests in which it has taken part and lost the opportunity to get past the group stage. This is the worst result ever since after the1982Olympic Games in Barcelona.Throughout the performance of China men’s basketball team in the contests, it is obvious that our team still has various problems. The gap is apparent between us and the western country teams. And one of the gaps is the poor performance of assists. During the contests, we conducted eight assists in each match on average, this number is less than the one of an any other team. As team work is the basic and most important quality of basketball game, the cooperation between all players is the only way to achieving scores. Here I try to compare the assists of Chinese team and the opponents, along with the shooting performances in different areas, so as to get the final conclusion.In this article, all literature method, expert interviewing method, Delphi method, video observation statistics method, mathematical method, as well as comparing analysis method will be employed in the performance of China men’s basketball team. The assists of both sides in the contests, and the shooting times and hit probability in different zones, will be regarded as the basis for a qualitative and quantitative evaluation in this article. The conclusions are given as follow:1. The China men’s basketball team has less time in getting through a breakthrough point to fulfill the assists successfully. The cooperation between our players is not as smooth as our opponents. We do not catch the right time to assist, and we always lay much stress on a few star players, most of the players are not confident enough during the contests.2. The China men’s basketball team has less time via shot pass to fulfill the assists successfully. It shows that Chinese team has a poor reading ability, team consciousness, tacit understanding degree, and the understanding of ripe times. We generally do not have a clear attacking intent.3. The China men’s basketball team players have less time to help a teammate via situ quick pass to fulfill the assists successfully. It proves the cooperation in the team is not as ideal as the opponents. It leads to a poor offensive, vague tactical intention, slack skills of players and a waste of opportunities.4. The China men’s basketball team has less time via long pass to fulfill the assists successfully. By watching the video, we come to the conclusion that the players always failed in catching the opportunities of long pass, this also proves the lack of reading ability of the players. The ball cannot be passed to a teammate immediately by getting rid of the defensives. Their fast subconscious is not clear, this causes the delay of the fast breaks.5. We also see the gaps of shots in different regions between Chinese team and the opponents, especially the shots in area five. After Yao Ming’s retirement, the inside strength is abated greatly, together with all other reasons, leading to the team shots are far less than the opponents.6. We also see the gaps of two points and three points ball shots between Chinese team and the opponents. Our team consciousness is not good enough. We excessively rely on a few star players. And we the ripe time arrives, we can not bold moves very well. There is also the weakness of shot technology and anti-interference ability.7. We also see the gaps of the analyzing technology and tactics judgment ability between Chinese team and the opponents. As we do not take reasonable defensive movement, this leads to a too passive defense. Advices and suggestions:1. Based on the league, improve the quality of the league2. Strengthen the psychological quality training, improve players’self-regulation ability.3.
