In today’s chemistry class, a common phenomenon is that teachers lead the class while students receive knowledge passively. Therefore, the major roles are teachers rather than students.Facing this problem, the paper stands on student’s perspective to promote the effective learning on chemical conceptions in high school chemistry. The paper first reviews the research results on chemical conceptions and effective learning. Second the paper concludes the theoretical support to effective learning on chemical conceptions based on the review. Then a survey on current chemistry learning situation in high school is conducted and SPSS and EXCEL are used to analyse the data. Based on the survey, the paper discusses the problems students have met in their learning on chemical conceptions and corresponding strategies are pointed out and deeply analysed. The paper also elaborates the advantages and disadvantages of effective learning strategies and traditional learning strategies, and points out how to teach students to foster the former one. At last, those strategies are used in real learning practice. The effectiveness of the strategies is tested through the comparison between student’s exam result and interest in chemical conceptions before and after the application of the strategies. According to the result of the practice, effective learning sees better performance of students.It helps students acquire a deeper understanding of chemical conceptions and meanwhile raise their learning interest.
