In modern society, education attracts a great number of people’s attention. People believe that improving education is a substantial foundation for the prosperity of country. And, educators’ concept of the education development has changed a lot with both emphasis on "how to teach" and "how to learn". In this way, students’ individual differences are paid close attention by more educators and scholars. It is beyond doubt that one of students’ individual differences-learning styles have been researched by people.Middle school English education has now changed greatly in the past years. Since the launching of2003new curriculum, middle school English teaching has been changing from traditional indoctrination to communicative teaching. As the name implies, communicative language teaching aims at developing students’ communicative ability. Therefore, English listening and speaking are widely concerned by school teachers and students. As we know, English listening is a big problem in middle school. Bad listening environment and students’ weakness in listening are restricting the development of English education in middle school.As is mentioned above, the author wants to replace the traditional teaching method for a way matching students’ perceptual learning styles so as to enhance students’ listening competences and proficiency. The author investigates students’perceptual learning style in Tai Pingcun NO.1middle school and utilizes a teaching method matching students’ perceptual learning style in English listening class.During one semester, experimental class’s listening competence is significantly improved than control class’s. Therefore, the author concludes that this kind of teaching method matching students’ perceptual learning style do have a substantial role in teaching listening.
