This research mainly uses the related theories about representation to study the mathematics word problem solving strategies. In this paper, Chapter Two, the Analysis of Mathematics Word Problems of College Entrance Examination Based on External Representations and Internal Representations, one of the important subjects supported by funded project of Fujian Province Education Department and funded project of Fujian Province Department of Finance, some results was accepted by Journal of Mathematics Education.To improve students’ awareness of the mathematics application is the need of the times, and also the need for the full implementation of quality education. What is called "teaching one to fish is better than giving him fish". Therefore, the meaning of the word problem teaching study with the important techniques to enhance math application is emphasized. The word problem solving is the process of the integrated use of konwledge. The teaching of word problems should include the appearance of mathematical knowledge and should even involve the psychological study. It is necessary to pay attention to how the students think when they are solving problems." Representation" is a concept of cognitive psychology, which refers to students’psychological cognitive component in the process of solving. So applying representation into math word problem solving manifests the strong guiding significance of phycology to subject teaching.On the basis of research literature overview this academic dissertation bases on mathematics word problems as its carrier and uses internal and external representations as its research perspective to propose the internal and external representations factors which affect students to solve the word problems with examples from the college entrance examinations. Through the survey and questionnaire test, the researcher understood the representation habits and the representation abilities of students in the word problem solving processes. Through the individual interviews, the researcher understood the differences between poor students and good students that exist in the problem representing. Through analyzing and demonstrating the word problem teaching experiments and data statistical results, by combining the students’ current status, the researcher testified that it’s useful to teach word problem solving strategies based on the internal and external representations in order to improve the problem solving skills. |
