At the age of electronic information, the rapid development of science and technology not only brings fresh nutrient to people’s lives, but also constantly changes people’s lifestyles. College students are the pioneers of the Internet. China’s political reform creates an environmental system for public participation and the development of Internet provides freedom, pluralism, and interaction. Thus students’participating in the network has been developed quickly and highly. The appearance of the internet provides a platform of relative freedom for people; citizens can participate in public affairs through the network:carrying interest demands, maintaining the right, supervising the government and brainstorming for public affairs. Under this context, in order to enhance the ability of services of government, the government must transform in time, listen to public opinions, and improve response capabilities.This paper studies the impact of the new age college students’ participation in social events via network influences the management of government. Firstly, this paper introduces the background and significance of the study, current research status and shortcomings both at home and abroad, defines the meaning of student populations, social events and network participation, describes the connotation of government administration. Secondly, by the results of survey and interview, it analyze the current status of college students participating in the network, including the ways and features, and also the degree, method and outcomes of the influences such behavior did to the government. Finally, by combining above analysis, this paper comes up with countermeasures the government should take for college students’ participation. That is, to accelerate the construction of e-government, improve the regulations and laws related to network, and build a harmonious regime between the government and netizens.
