Core values take a dominant position and play a dominant role in society. It is also arelatively stable fundamental value concept and criterion value which we generally follow fora long time. Our Party integrates the whole Party and society value consensus to come to anassertion that To Advocate Prosperity, Democracy, Civilization and Harmony; To AdvocateFreedom, Equality, Justice and Laws; To Advocate Patriotism, Dedication, Integrity andAmicability; To Actively Cultivate and Practice the Socialist Core Values. To cultivate andpractice the socialist core values is a strategic mission to progress the socialism with Chinesecharacteristics and realize the China dream that the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Italso helps to reinforce the guiding role of Marxism in the ideology, to consolidate thecommon ideological foundation of the concerted efforts of the whole Party and nation, topromote full-scale human development and all-round social progress, and to accumulatepositive energies to realize China dream that building a well-off society and seeing the greatrejuvenation of the Chinese nation.Although early Marxist classical writers did not develop any theories like socialist values,the thinking and exploration on socialist values are always running through the whole theoryand great practice of socialism. According to Marx and Engels socialist values, the liberationof human and the free overall development of human are the core value and the ultimate goal;equality, freedom and democracy is the important content; the development of the productiveforces and achieving common prosperity is the realization. Lenin and Stalin socialist valuesmainly reflected in the cultural values task of free overall development of human, the politicalvalue target of establishing new democratic system and the economic value goal of achievingcommon prosperity. While the Chinese communists have enriched and further developed thecontent of socialist values, formed the value orientation of people-oriented and serving thepeople wholeheartedly, and set up the value goal of overall development of human and valuepursuit of common prosperity.Value identification is a process of dynamic change when people in social practiceactivities, they use a common value as a standard to regulate their behaviors, or treat acommon ideal, faith, criterion or principle as a goal to internalize it to their own valueorientation and externalize it to certain value behavior. It needs to go through three stages-cognitive identity, emotional identity and behavior identity. As the major force to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, collegestudents’ identification of socialist core values has important historical and realisticsignificance. However, due to college students are in the stage of forming independentpersonality and thinking, their identification to socialist core values has characteristics ofnon-omnidirectional, unbalanced and inconsistent to three stages.
