Learning By English Teachers’ Talk In Junior Class

This research is based on such theories as, the understandable input theory of Krashen, the understandable output theory of Swain, and some other theories about foreign language learning and language teaching. During the research, the author used some research methods such as the way to do natural research, comparative analysis, comprehension analysis, then the author carry out the experiment during the two classes in her interning school’s Grade Seven, in order to find out the relationship between the language teacher used in the teaching and the effect of students’ language learning. Keep some factors unchanged and let some factors change, the author did a test in the two classes at the first beginning and at the end of the experiment. Some questionnaires, interviews and classroom observation have been carried out among the two classes. After the experiment, the author did some analysis using the data coming from all the experiment, finding that:In the junior high school English teaching, teacher’s talk surely make some influence on the effect of students’ language learning. In details, they can be divided as follows:(1) If the teacher spend too much time doing the input, students will lose the time to do their own output, and it will also cause the communication between the teacher and the students become weaker and weaker, it’s bad for students’ language learning (2) The quality of teachers’ language teaching can also make a big difference. It will directly influence students’ learning effect, learning passion, learning confidence, also it will make some influence on students’ exam scores (3)Something about the teachers’ language when they are asking questions, for example, the way, the type, the time waiting after questioning and the questioning skills will all make a big influence on students’ pride, learning passion and learning confidence, then these factors will also influence the students’scores (4) The feedback of teacher will also make a big influence on students’ language learning. In a word, positive feedback is better than negative feedback. Besides, the way teacher used to correct the students’ mistakes is also very important, because it can make influence on students’ learning emotion. At last, base on the above conclusions, the author put up with some suggestions for nowadays English teachers, hoping it will make some good influence in using the teachers’ talk, and hoping we can make the best use of it (5) What the teacher talk in class directly influence the relationship between teacher and students, which make influence on the students’ language learning effect too. So the student should change themselves from the passive language learner into the active language learner, being the master of the language knowledge, truly take part in the language class.
