Emphatically cultivating students’ mathematics thinking ability is the guide of new curriculum on mathematics. What we seek on mathematics teaching is to cultivate high school students’ good thinking ability. Nowadays, the mathematics thinking ability in secondary vocational schools’ mathematics pedagogy is ignored, and it’s not optimistic on this point. It’s worthy for teachers to think how to cultivate secondary vocational students’ mathematics thinking ability. Based on carding thoughts, mathematics thoughts, and cultivating basic theory, the research analyses current situation and tries to put forward the approach of mathematics thinking ability cultivation, which is to introduce mind maps in mathematics teaching. With the mind maps in review lessons and practice lessons, a new teaching model in these classes is proposed. The research tests the effectiveness of the new teaching model with the experiments and case interviews.Totally, there are six sections in this paper:In first section,the research analyzes secondary vocational school students’ mathematics thinking ability and the current situation in their classes, and arouses the thinking to improve the teaching process. It also analyzes the characteristics of mind maps and research status, elicits the concerns of this research.In second section, the research introduces the knowledge of mind maps and mathematics thinking ability combining students’ learning and psychology characteristics, and collects the data from both the domestic and foreign researches. It proofs the feasibility of the combination of the mind maps and the mathematics class in secondary vocational school.In third section, the research puts forward the view of combining mind maps in review lessons and practice lessons. A new teaching model is established with the analysis. It proofs the effectiveness that the new model with the mind maps helps to develop secondary vocational school students’ mathematics thinking ability.In fourth section, it states an experimental research based on the teaching model with the mind maps. With the contrast experiment between experimental class and control class in the first grade of a certain secondary vocational school, it defines the new model works effectively to enhance students class participation and to improve their goals.In fifth section, the research is about the case interviews in experimental class. With the interview data, the research embodies that the students are really interested in mind maps and like to draw mind maps for hashing out their own thoughts.In sixth section, it is a research conclusion. Based on the experimental research and case interviews, the research concludes that it’s beneficial for teachers’ teaching and students’ learning with the model of mind map and it is conductive for developing students’ mathematics thinking ability.
