Along with the increasing development of society as well as the rapid change of knowledge, information technology which includes network technology, information highway and multimedia technology has been integrated into people’s daily life, moreover, has a profound impact on the filed of education. In recent years, China has launched in-depth reform in education, not only focusing on all-round development, but also information technology. Therefore, it is the very responsibility of school education that to improve students’ information literacy.This paper developed in the perspective of learning participation, taking students of Liao Cheng sixth middle school as the object of study. After analysis of mass numbers of teaching experience and literature, it revealed the current situation of leaning participation in junior high school IT classrooms in the four dimensions of participation, participation attitude, participation method, participation motivation, by the means of questionnaires, face-to-face interviews, in-class observation and so on. What is more important, it proposed reasonable strategies to improve information technology learning based on problems discovered by research.This paper consists of six sections. The first section is introduction which expounded the background, significance, purpose and methods of the topic. The second section is literature review: Firstly, it described the concept of learning participation through interpreting the understandings by scholars; Secondly, it defined the meaning of learning participation within this article; Lastly, it summarized the research status both in domestic and oversea academia. The third section is to define each investigation aspect and to design the research tool. In the fourth section, it performed descriptive analysis and correlation analysis using SPSS software, obtained participation status by arranging interview records and observed the effects of classroom learning through the numbers of student participation. In the fifth section, it put forward optimization strategies to improve learning participation in IT classroom of junior high school in the aspect of teachers, students and study environment, based on the research analysis and summary. The last section is summary and reflection, which pointed out the pros and cons of the entire study, furthermore, proposed prospects for further studies.The demonstrations of this study are of great importance to improve the current status of IT classrooms as well as students’ information literacy, in the meanwhile, it might inspire middle school IT teachers, educators in other related disciplines and many other teaching staffs.
