Research On The Present Situation And Development Of Local Cultural Studies In Newly-established Universities In Guangdong Province

Under constructive policy developing culturally dynamic city, culture-rich province and nation, the protection and development of the local characteristic culture has become important gradually. However, most of cities cannot understand and dig into the essence and features of urban historical culture which has caused catastrophic damage to local culture. Serving the construction of local cultural heritage and innovation is important function and the assumed responsibility for local universities. Newly-built universities which established by merging, upgrade, conversion from academies, have local and regional peculiarity. They are placed in the local cultural environment and their development is necessarily affected by the culture, thus they must set their foot on the local culture which is the need of cultivating school characteristics and major serving object by giving full play to the performance of its own scientific research advantage and function of education. Newly-built universities should strengthen the studies on local characteristic culture, lead cultural development and innovation through the spread, promotion and application of cultural research results.This paper consists of three parts. The first part mainly analyzes the motivation that newly-built universities carry out the local cultural studies, including the theoretical basis and practical motivation. The second part of the dissertation take three universities and their culture research institutions in Guangdong province as an example, discusses on the attempt the newly-built universities made on local cultural research, summarizes its current situation and practical characteristics and analyzes the existing problems. The third part mainly presents some reflections and countermeasures to solve existing problems in the practice of cultural studies, summarizes experience that universities develop local cultural researches in Japan and South Korea. On this basis, conducts forward-looking thinking from two perspectives, the interaction between the subject in the study of local characteristic culture and strategy of developing local characteristic cultural research.
