The Study Of Agency Of The Medical Social Workers’ Professional Role

The reform of medical and health care environment is ongoing, and the medical social work also plays an important role in it. in the start stage of Medical social work, as one of a line of medical social work practitioners and promoters of medical, social workers play an important force. Based on this, this study aims to Shanghai’s different educational background but all had received the social work education of medical social workers in-depth interviews. They both have administrative experience and practical experience of frontline medical social worker. Discuss how they are in the current health care situation play their own agency to link resources, to overcome the obstacles, so as to smooth development and promotion of medical social work service.In this study, the specific application and its influencing factors in how the medical social workers use the agency playing professional roles were analyzed. There are two research conclusions:the professional role play of agency of medical social workers and the factors restricting their abilities. On the one hand, the agency of medical social workers shows in: first, in the face of patients and their families, the agency of medical social workers shows in a clear awareness of the service groups、the emotion devoted in the people and work、the master of professional theory and practical skills as well as technical advice, emotional counseling and resource links of the social activities; the second, in the face of hospital and medical staffs, the agency of medical social workers shows in the clear awareness of the hospital and staffs the sense of honor and sense of belonging to the hospital and the respect and care to medical staffs、sufficient medical knowledge as well as communication and coordination, administration of social competence; and thirdly, in the face of public health and community health the agency of medical social workers shows in carrying out lectures on the health of residents and health tests, providing advice for policy-building and development. On the other hand,medical social workers believe that environmental policies at the national macro level, the hospital administration level and the level of medical social workers themselves there are constraints of its own agency to play.The lesson of the above research results is:the future development of medical social work in China and the enhancement of ability of medical social workers need the government to provide policy guidance and system support from the macro level; the hospital to support and cooperate with the medical social worker; medical social workers to promote professional and self management ability.
