As an important part in the history teaching, the exercises in history textbooks can help students better understand and memorize the relevant knowledge, stimulate the students’learning interest in history curriculum, and improve the students’ historical thinking ability, as well as using the knowledge flexibly.However, for a long time,the research work on the exercises in the history textbooks haven’t been carried out deeply and systematically,therefore, there still exists great improvement in the design and usage of exercises in the history textbooks.In this article,I review the development process in the history textbooks in senior high school, summarize the present situation in the research on exercises of history textbooks, by means of questionnaires and interviews, I analyze the usage of the exercises in the history classes in senior high schools in China.Based on this, I do further research work on the exercises in the function,principle,characteristics,and types in this article,and put forward some suggestions for the improvement in the history textbooks in senior school.
