Since the reform and opening up,China’s economic construction has made remarkable achievement.And education as the cornerstone of rapid economic development has provided continuous impetus for economic development. In the various stages of education,the number of audience in compulsory education is in a large size which laid the foundation for other stages of education, and thus become an important aspect in the development of education. Currently, government universal compulsory education precisely in order to develop education better, so that economic and social development can be better and faster.Most previous studies of education are mostly for calculating the rate of return of education.The research for compulsory education in family expenditure is still in its infancy. Therefore, under the background of urban-rural dual economic structure, combined with the analysis of urban and rural compulsory education expenses and cost,the paper is divided into four parts:The first part is introduction, mainly explained the research background, current situation at home and abroad, significance and methods.The second part is the analysis of the formation of the cost and benefit of family education and explaining the concept of the cost of family education, income, and the rate of return, as the theoretical basis of comparison of compulsory family education expenses, costs and benefits.The third part is mainly about the Chinese compulsory household costs are divided into two parts: direct and indirect costs,taking rural and urban households for the sample, using comparative and mathematical analysis to explain compulsory education expenses and costs of rural and urban households on,drawing the conclusion that the cost on educational expenditure is low in rural families, the cost of educational expenditure in urban families is high,which leads a direct result of the obvious distinction between rural and urban household expenditure on education.The fourth part is about for the cost-benefit study issues arising from rural and urban household expenditure in compulsory education, and the family, schools, government give corresponding countermeasures and reasonable recommendations to make rural and urban students receive equal compulsory education.Through this research we can get a comprehensive analysis of the relationship between expenditure costs and income which contributes to the development of compulsory education and provides more targeted assistance and promotion, and thus it has a higher significance and practical value.
