The acquisition of English vocabulary plays a crucial role in English learning. However, there are lots of problems in the traditional vocabulary teaching methods, besides students’ English vocabulary learning also problematic. The new curriculum standard increases the demand for the vocabulary for senior high school students, so the innovation of English vocabulary teaching is very important.The researcher discusses the application of category theory in English Vocabulary Teaching in senior high school from the perspective of cognitive linguistics.This study is mainly based on teaching experiments. The empirical study was conducted among the students in a senior high school by questionnaires and tests. The researcher has made the data statistics. During the internship period, the researcher also has carried out the questionnaire survey and the vocabulary test.The researcher mainly studies the following two questions. The first one is the senior high school students’ problems of learning English vocabulary. The second one is whether category theory can improve the senior high school students’ vocabulary learning. The result of the experiment shows that the scores of experiment class which applies the category theory to English teaching are higher than those of the control class which applies the traditional English vocabulary teaching methods. It can conclude that using category theory can improve high school students’ English vocabulary learning. Finally, the researcher provides some useful suggestions concerning the category theory in English Vocabulary Teaching in senior high school and expects that it can provide some help to future researches...
