Objectives:To investigate the status of the students’ health literacy and the main influencing factors. To reveal the students’ awareness rate about the knowledge of healthProvide reference for the intervention of health literacyMethods:Using stratified cluster sampling method,990 students in a certain Higher Vocational College were randomly selected. The questionnaire is health literacy monitering questionnaire of the country residents in 2013 and a survey on basic situation of students was completed. A database was established and checked double by Epidata3.1 and the data were analyzed for single factor and multiple factor.Results:1. The total average score of health literacy was 72.89±8.24; the average score of basic knowledge and concept was 36.47±4.26, the average score of healthy lifestyle and behavior was 19.07±3.07, health skills average score was 17.34±3.04. The pass rate of healthy lifestyle and behavior was lowest.2. Pearson correlation analysis of the three dimensions showed that there is positive correlation between every two dimensions.3. With chi-square statistics, there were statistically differences between males and females (P<0.05) of the pass rates in both total score and dimensionl. The pass rates of dimension2 and dimension3 lack statistically differences between males and females (P>0.05).4. The pass rate of the Hui nationality in total score and dimensionl was higher than the pass rates of the Han nationality and the Miao nationality. There were statistically differences (P<0.05).5. The pass rate of the higher grade in total score and dimension 1 was higher than the pass rate of the lower grade. There were statistically differences (P<0.05).6. The health literacy of the medical imaging specialty and rehabilitation specialty was lower than the nursing specialty. There were statistically differences (P<0.05). The health literacy of the normal nursing specialty was lower than the English nursing specialty. There was statistically difference (P<0.05).7. Logistic regression analysis showed that the main influencing factors of health literacy were sex, nation,grade and specialty.8. The students knew well about more than 50% knowledge of health literacy, and their correct rate of the 32.5% of the topic was less than 60%. The awareness rate was low about the knowledge of maternal, common illness, chronic disease and infectious disease.Conclusions:1. The total level of students’ health literacy needs further improvement. The levels of the three dimensions were imbalance.2. There was positive correlation between every two dimensions.3. The main influencing factors of health literacy were sex,nation, grade and specialty. minority nationality.4. The awareness rate was low about the knowledge of maternal, common illness, chronic disease and infectious disease.5. The five-year higher vocational education college of health should strengthen health education, pay attention on students’ behavior, improve education model and method, optimize knowledge structure, and monitor and evaluate regularly.
