A Satisfaction Survey Research On University Students And Parents

With the deepening process of popularization in education, higher education in China has made great development. Higher education which can satisfy people has become a new target to meet people’s needs in China. First we should understand how people are satisfied with current higher education in order to achieve this goal, then take a further step of developing higher education according to people’s needs. This is not only the way to improve the service of higher education, but also highlights the value of people-oriented.On the basis of customer satisfaction theory and stakeholder theory, this research has revised the "Student Satisfaction Questionnaire" and its complement, "parental satisfaction questionnaire" in the use of "Student Satisfaction Inventory" and "Parent Satisfaction Inventory" developed by Noel-Levitz Company in U.S., which are more suitable for China’s higher education. This inventory has been launched among different levels of universities in Nanjing. The survey tries to understand the satisfaction of the direct participants, students and their parents, in China’s higher education, and analyzes the causes and factors that may affect the satisfaction of students and parents. In conclusion, the students in this survey are generally pleased with their higher education and the parents are quite satisfied with their children’s higher education.In addition, this research gives some suggestions on four low-satisfaction dimensions: teaching, logistics, career guidance and personal care, based on this data. And the analysis about the difference between the students’and parents’satisfaction also have been made to help improve higher education.
