| Senior high school English writing process, not only includes the process of teaching and writing, but also includes the assessment process, so the establishment of a scientific and effective assessment mechanism has an important influence on the whole learning process. However, the teacher-centered writing assessment in senior high school---summative assessment is too single; this is an important factor restricting the improvement of students’ writing competence. In recent years, the new "National English Curriculum Standards for general High School" proposed the use of formative assessment to evaluate the students’ performance in the process of writing. The formative assessment emphasizes the diversification of assessment content, assessment form and assessment methods, through timely feedback between teachers and students to improve the result of English teaching and learning.The object of this study is class 8 grade 2 and class 9 from Urumqi No.68 middle school, a total of 102 people. In accordance with the requirements of new curriculum standards and the college entrance examination for students and the students’ actual situation, chooses an appropriate PTA Evaluation Scale and evaluation criterion for senior high English writing. After a period of 12 weeks teaching experiment, the experimental class’ s English writing score, which is used the formative assessment, is higher than that of the comparative class, which is used the summative assessment, and the scores of the experimental class in the aspects of content, grammar and structure were significantly increased.This study shows that the formative assessment to English writing of grade 2 high school students is a practical and effective writing assessment method; it can improve the students’ English writing performance, especially in writing content, grammar, structure.The enlightens of the study on the assessment of the English writing teaching for grade 2 students in senior high school are:(1) The formative assessment can renew the evaluation concepts of teachers for writing.(2) The formative assessment can make students understand themselves and perfect themselves.(3) The formative assessment can help students form a good writing habit.(4) The formative assessment emphasis feedback effects of teacher’s teaching and student’s learning. |
