This paper aims to design a dual-band mobile phone antenna for3Gcommunications and5GHzWiFi. In the study, we make Koch island microstrip patchantenna as a design prototype, and combine with three research methods containtheoretical research, simulation and physical contrast. The main content of this paper arelisted as below:Firstly, according to the antenna operating frequency band, the value of gain andreturn loss requirements, we propose a kind of Koch island microstrip patch antennabasic model. We use Hfss-Matlab-Api script programming microstrip fractal antennamodeling and use HFSS software initially completing simulation analysis of keyperformance indicators of the antenna.Secondly, in order to further improve the directivity and impedance characteristicsof the antenna, we optimized the basic model of antenna by making use of the theory ofarray antenna, microstrip antenna miniaturization techniques and the technologies forbroadband microstrip antenna. Through HFSS software optimization function, weanalyze the effect of various parameters on microstrip patch antenna radiationcharacteristics, and ultimately we propose the optimal solution to meet the designobjectives.Again, we made the physical antenna according to the final design, and measured inan anechoic chamber. Test results show that: in the design goals, the band1880-2170MHz and5150-5350MHz range, return loss values are lower than-6dB, theantenna gain values are greater than0dBi, in full compliance with the current standardsof mobile phone antenna design and the test results are consistent with the theoreticalsimulation results.Finally, we analyzed the phone antenna safety index SAR value. Put the human headmodel and mobile phone antenna model into the HFSS software, analyze the phoneantenna electromagnetic effects on the human head and the study plays a guide role athow to reduce the radiation to head of phone antenna. In summary, the proposed Koch island dual band microstrip patch antenna withgood engineering application results and predictable marketing value.
