Current application demands the large field of view, high time resolution, highsensitivity of the detection requirements. In this paper, scanning imaging methodwith focal plane array on the base of digital TDI technology combined with step-staremode is proposed. The detection of large field view and high time resolution isproceeding in the stage of target searching, higher signal-to-noise ratio, betteruniformity of image information is achieved by Digital time delay integration; Thetarget is tracked and recognized effectively by step-stare mode after the target isfound.1) Scanning imaging method with focal plane array on the base of digital TDItechnology has a high time resolution. The constraint conditions of improvingthe time resolution are analyzed.2) The capacity of improving the SNR of the scanning imaging method on the baseof digital TDI technology is test, which is compared with the pixel accumulation.3) Improving of the uniformity by scanning imaging method on the base of digitalTDI technology is analyzed. Test platform is built to verify the analysis model.4) The decrease of MTF in relationship with the synchronization error and digitalTDI stage M are discussed. Relationship of the position mismatch and thedetection results on the condition of different target characteristics and differentposition mismatch is analyzed by simulation.5) The SNR and uniformity of a medium wave infrared detection system is test toanalyze the characteristics of this method when working in this mode.Scanning imaging method with focal plane array on the base of digital TDItechnology combined with step-stare mode can meet the current detectionrequirements by the flexible switching of the two detection methods.
