Based on the developing platform of AutoCAD2008software that is the mostwidely used in the engineering design field, this parametric design system of liquiddistributor has been established by use of the inlaid secondary development toolVisual Basic of Applications (VBA), the ActiveX Automation technique, the SQLSERVER database system and the rich design experience. This parametric designsystem can simplify the drawing process to a large extent, and reduce the repetitivework and human error. What’s more, it really exerts accurate and fast advantage ofAutoCAD.This system is made up of parameter input interface, parametric design programand database. In these three parts, the parameter input interface for user is utilized totransfer the parameters of liquid distributer to the program. The parametric designprogram is written by VBA secondary development tool, in this program, the keyparameters are set variables, and the parametric program exchanges data with SQLSERVER database system, finally it drives AutoCAD to generate graph of liquiddistributer. Database system is used to save the data relating to the dimensionparameter from the database, and then send the coordinates of relating pointsautomatically to drawing space. This parametric design system also has the functionof automatically generating of layer style, text style, size marking and the title bar,which makes up the disadvantages of AutoCAD.Through the method of parametric design program, this system has an openstructure and friendly interface interaction, which is helpful for users to manage therelating data. The application of this system can enhance the efficiency greatly for thedesigners, and create a new method which combines chemical engineering andcomputer science. Both of these two aspects will boost the development ofstandardization for liquid distributor.
