The Primary Exploration Of Domestic Public Journalism In The Internet Age

Public journalism theory was first raised by American scholars in1990th whichwas the new try-out of the US press for news reporting aimed at certain socialbackground. The theory provides journalism with new perspective and skills, that is, thepress should be more actively taking the responsibility to enhance the mobility of thepublic after the spread of news information.In2004, this news reporting pattern was introduced into China. Yet, due todifferent politic system and press environment, as well as the difference between thepress of two countries, public journalism displayed a contradicted role in our country.Public journalism varies in the practical activities in China from that of USA. It hasbeen greatly enriched and extended in the aspects of dissemination, organization, newscontent and choice of media in China. This type of news reporting has unconsciouslypromoted the progress of democracy of our country, which is undergoing thetransformation period, and it also improved national enthusiasm and conscience aboutengaging into public affairs.In the last decade, with the further development of information and technology,with the extended coverage and deep influence of internet, public journalism activitieshave manifested enormous vigor and energy which exerted profound impact on variousissues in the public field.This paper aims to analyze the special transmission influence of public journalismunder this certain domestic internet environment based on heated cases such as “freelunch”.The paper is divided into4parts with six chapters. The introduction part, whichbuilds on the basis of foreign studies on public journalism, is a brief introduction of thestudy background and study significance, as well as a pre-statement of essential pointsin the rest part of this paper. The main body of this paper is composed of4chapters: inthe second and third chapter, the practical effect of public journalism exerted in Chinaand USA whose political system and historical background are nothing but different willbe presented; in the next chapter, the great impart of public journalism on promotingpublic incidents will be emphasized, the special role of internet as one part of publicarea will also be discussed; in the fifth chapter, the writer will explore the difficulty andfuture of public journalism activities; while the sixth chapter is the conclusion of the whole paper.This paper tries to investigate the case study of public journalism in the internetage to analyze the interactions between the press and the public, the government and thepublic, and the government and the press so that to explore the discourse reset mode inthe public area with Chinese characteristics.
