With the rapid development of the Internet, many network applications areemerging in an endless stream. Users regard the Internet as a platform to collect,transmit, storage and process the information, not only as a tool for point-to-pointcommunication as it first came out. In order to adapt the new requirements ofapplications, the Internet’s waist which is thin originally is becoming more and moreoverstaffed and ossified, and the problems of scalability, mobility, security andcontrollability is becoming increasingly prominent. So researchers hope to resolve theseproblems radically by exploring future Internet architecture.Although the future Internet architecture which faces to the new applicationssatisfies the new requirement, the deployment of it is quite restricted. The reason is thatthe economical cost is amazingly high, and the current Internet architecture haspotential to develop and not yet broken down. Consequently, for the sake of supportingthe research of future Internet architecture, and the deployment and verification of newprotocols, it is essentially important to construct innovational networking experimentalenvironment. Hence, we propose a novel protocol verification mechanism based onlabels, named OpenLabel, to provide universal experimental platform for new protocolsexperiment. Contributions and the main work of this dissertation can be concluded asfollows:(1)Firstly, we comprehensive analysis the current research on innovationalnetworking architecture. Combining the main ideas of MPLS and OpenFlow, wepropose a novel protocol verification mechanism named OpenLabel, and describe theprogress of packet forwarding based on OpenLabel mechanism. Then we prove thatOpenLabel can fit well in the new protocols’ deployment and experiment.(2) Secondly, we perform deeply researches on the key approaches refer to themechanism of OpenLabel, including the OpenLabel realization model, the applicationprogramming interfaces between OpenLabel applicatio n plane and control plane, thecore data structure inside OpenLabel modules and the implementation progress.(3)Lastly, on the basis of the OpenLabel model, we design a implementationscheme of OpenLabel verification platform based on NetMagic, including detailedhardware platform design and software system design, and analysis the primary result.In summary, we performs intensive researches about platform design andimplementation of OpenLabel which is a novel protocol verification mechanism basedon the label. The research has theoretic meaning and practical value in constructinginnovational networking experimental environment.
