This paper introduces the concept and development of the virtual cell firstly, because of thecharacteristics of the increasing production flexibility and the equipment utilization, Virtual cellularmanufacturing get the favor of many scholars. But due to the virtual cell has the characteristics ofcomplexity, and the number of resources are often limited, when there are multiple cells in parallelcondition, it can appear resource conflict phenomenon between cells. At present research about resourceconflict problem most focus on real time resolution during scheduling plan implementation. Yet researchabout resource conflict avoidance is few. Resource conflict avoidance can eliminate conflicts that mayarise before the mission implementation, to avoid the phenomenon of organizational chaos in theproduction process, improve equipment utilization of resources. In view of this, the paper analyzes thecharacteristics of the device resource conflicts in virtual cellular manufacturing, using critical chainmethod and particle swarm algorithm to study ways to avoid resource conflicts and real time resolutionstrategy.The paper analyzes the reasons for device resource conflict generated in virtual cell, type andcharacteristics. Because the critical chain method can effectively manage the uncertainty of project,shorten project cycle and improve project efficiency. The critical chain method has made considerableprogress in solving the issues of multi-project resource allocation. In this paper, the critical chain methodwill be applied to the conflict avoidance of VCM, and joint decision-making cell formation andscheduling problems. Under the bottleneck resource constrained situation, consider irreplaceablebottleneck resources, to avoid selecting bottleneck resources. Taking into account the complexity of thevirtual cell production, the comprehensive process priority calculated by virtual cell’s importance andprocess importance is used as the basis of bottleneck resource allocation, and sort the overlapping taskson shared resources, in the early planning to avoid the generation of resource conflicts.Due to uncertainties in the process of production execution, a hybrid particle swarm optimizationalgorithm is proposed, and considers task priority of shared resource. A new decoding method whichsimulates market mechanism solves resource conflict problem. Finally, an example of the resolutionstrategies to resolve resource conflicts between multiple virtual cells feasibility and effectiveness.Finally, the resource conflict avoidance method applied to a locomotive plant machining workshop,analyzes the current situation and problems in the processing plant, combined with the characteristics andcondition of the plant’s resources, the use of virtual cell its production. When there are multiple cells inparallel condition, critical chain method using the cell and resource conflicts between cells effectively avoid and set buffering mechanism to absorb uncertainties in the production process to ensure theeffective production plan. By analyzing the results, resource conflicts may occur in a certain extent beenavoided, proves the validity of the conflict avoid strategy.
