With the rapid development of internet technology, electronic public opinion (EPO) hasbecome a vital part of social public opinions in our information age, with the fast speed, wideaudience and deep influence any other medium cannot compare. As an important part of electronicpublic opinion on anti-corruption, it has been a powerful tool to build a clean and honestgovernment and combat corruption with its unique strengths such as being fast, convenient,concealed, interactive, influential and so on. In recent years, many cases of corruption werediscovered with the help of electronic public opinions on anti-corruption. However, electronicpublic opinion is also a double-edged sword, although it provides wider means to fight againstcorruption. The open, spontaneous, virtual, anonymous internet result in the unavoidable defeats ofelectronic public opinion on anti-corruption, which may cause the spread of some false informationand negative public opinions and affect our social stability. Therefore, it has been a rewardingsubject, not only today but also in the future days, on how to face up to the opportunities andchallenges and to overcome the negative effects brought by electronic public opinion on anti-corruption, how to have a full play of the positive functions to apply scientific coping mechanismsfor electronic public opinion on anti-corruption so as to legalize the network anti-corruption. Thepaper endeavors to have deep analyses on the basic concepts, characteristics as well as the currentsituations of electronic public opinion on anti-corruption, and then provides detailed presentation ofproblems and challenges faced by the government in terms of ideology, technology, methods,operation system, legal norms and so on. The paper continues to present the four principles ofcommon attention, accuracy and objectivity, sensitivity and efficiency, and transparency thegovernment should apply to cope with electronic public opinion on anti-corruption, throughmaking clear the requirements by the government in the theory of anti-corruption. The paperfinally offers suggestions and mechanisms to improve electronic public opinion of anti-corruptionby the ways of platform construction, collective research, coordinative work, verification offeedback, technical support, so as to provide some useful references for building standard processand effective systems of electronic public opinion on anti-corruption in collection, research,investigation and feedback.
