An Evaluation Of The Performance Of Interactive Exhibitions In Environmental Education Center

Through evaluating the effectiveness of interacting exhibitions in Beijing Museum of Natural History, this study seeks to explore an effective method to evaluate the effectiveness of interacting exhibitions in environmental education centers and similar venues.Based upon a systemetic review of the research on the evaluation of interacting exhibitions, the author develops an evaluating method, with3indicators:attracting power, holding power and visitor preference.The study takes the Beijing Museum of Natural History as the research object. Through questionnaire survey, unstructured observation and field survey etc. methods, it analyze the current using situation and the effectiveness of the exhibitions in the museum, evaluates the effectiveness of exhibitions in the exhibiton room of "Animals’ Mystery", and divides them into3levels, then discover the effecting factors through considering visitors’ social background, their recreation experience,and what satisfaction rating they get.This paper draws the following conclusions:the effecting factors that influence exhibiting effectives are the interacting type of exhibition, visiting type, visitors’ age, the location of exhibitons, light designing, and the influence of other exhibitions nearby. In the end, the paper gives some suggestions to improve the whole quality of the exhibitions in Beijing Museum of Natural History.
