Research On China’s Mobile Digital Library Construction

Every technological reformation will promote the cause and change of relatedindustries including the library industry. Throughout the history of the library, we willfind that the library is also inseparable from the development of technology: theemergence and change of printing speed up the development of knowledge, and therehas been knowledge aggregation, which leads to the development of the ancientlibrary building. However, the emergence of information technology not only causes achange in library management and service delivery, but also affects the existing formof the library. Wireless network,3G mobile technology as the representativecommunication network technology and the rapid rise of the popularity of the librarywas brought unprecedented development opportunities, namely the mix of mobilecommunications technology and library-mobile digital library.While, on the one hand, our library has carried out the relevant part of theconstruction of mobile digital library, and its application practice is graduallyimproving; on the other hand, the theory of mobile digital library is constantlydeepened. Thus, proceeding from the current situation of China’s digital libraryconstruction, we start to explore their achievements and shortcomings of pastexperiences. To sum up experience, it is necessary to provide some references for themobile digital library construction.The article is divided into seven chapters in the structure. The first chapter is theIntroduction, which describes the research background, significance of the topic andthe research ideas and methods, and research progress in the theory and practice ofdomestic and foreign mobile digital library of the sort, and makes a brief summary ofthe evaluation. The second chapter is based on academic concepts for mobile digitallibrary analysis of the proposed connotation mobile digital library, analyzes thecharacteristics of mobile digital library and they embody the idea of a detailedexposition. The third chapter using network survey and sampling methodsinvestigates the present situation of the mobile digital library construction inprovincial public library and “211Project” Academic Library about the websiteconstruction, digital resources construction, services and platform development model,and analyzes the achievements and shortcomings of mobile digital libraryconstruction. The fourth chapter discusses the operation model of mobile digital libraries, including mobile digital library for institutions, mobile digital library forreaders, and mobile digital library reader. The fifth Chapter is based on the results ofthe third and fourth chapter investigation and analysis, which proposes theconstruction of a mobile digital library strategy. The sixth Chapter taking the nationalLibrary "Hand-held library" for typical example, from the microscopic point of viewfocuses on the analysis of its construction profiles, digital resources construction,service delivery and platform development situation etc., sums up experience andenlightenment. The seventh chapter is conclusion and prospect, summarizing andananlyzing the thesis, and indicating the further research direction.
