R&D Of The Automatic Sheets Cutter Based On PLC

This paper roots in the contract about the sheets cutter of Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (LTCC) Production. LTCC technique, which is an excellent packaging technique for achieving miniature and chip actualization of electronic components, has become a major method for electronic component integration, and has attracted the attention of many researchers. To accelerate development and production of LTCC parts, it needs development of the automatic and high precision LTCC process equipments. The automatic sheets Cutter is among many important equipments of LTCC production.LTCC is a muli-layer ceramic process. The ceramic layers are tape-cast in their pre-fired "green-state" and the tape is cut to the required size. Registration holes, via holes and cavities are then punched or drilled into the different tape layers. The via holes are normally filled, often with silver, and then thick film processing is used to print metallization patterns on each, or selected tapes. The different layers are then inspected, registered and laminated and then co-fired at around850℃. In the end, It makes muli-layer circuit boards.Make a control scheme according to the process and structure of the cutter and user’s demand in the paper. Automatic sheets cutter is based on the control system of Mitsubishi Q Series PLC and Pro-face HMI.The process of designing hardware and software is introduced in the paper. Loading, cutting and unloading is controlled by PLC,4servo motors is controlled by PLC and QD75P4positioning modules, and function of4axes linkage is realized. The idea of modularization is used in software designing. The function of all parts of the system is realized. The design of Human-Machine interface is presented, including parameter setting, state monitor, equipment maintenance and alarm display.Furthermore, the question of the installing and debugging and how to solve them were referred to. The Sheets Cutter was used and accepted by consumer. It is confirmed the practicability of the scheme. The successful development of the sheets cutter, it could impel the development of LTCC industry in our country, and can provide favourable equipment that made in our country with high scale of capability-price.
