Nowadays, the Mainframe played a central role in most of the world’s largestcompanies in the daily operations, these enterprises including many Fortune1000companies. Although other types of calculations are widely used in different levels ofbusiness activity, the Mainframe still occupies an enviable position in today’se-commerce environment. In banking, finance, health care, insurance, public utilities,government agencies, and a lot of other public and private enterprises, the Mainframecontinues to constituted the foundation of modern business. At the same time, theinnovation to the architecture of Mainframe and the geometric growth of the amountof data in the Mainframe has brought great challenges to the security of the operationand maintenance to the Mainframe system. In this case, some kind of automatical andconsiderably flexible performance management tool is urgently needed,which couldprovides support and protection of the operation and maintenance for the Mainframesystem, but the existing third-party products can not meet the needs of our unit. Basedon the description for the performance management platform for Mainframe whichwas independently developed by the project team in our unit, in this artile, researchand exposition of the explore and attempt to the Mainframe system performancemanagement and risk prevention was done..This system was built based on a large number of key performance indicators(KPI) of Mainframe.The data structures was rationally designed.The IT componentsof Mainframe system was described as objects in parent-child relationships.The KPIwas described as object properties.The system was also aided by a set of mathematicalmethods associated attributes,to achieve the logical storage of KPI.This system contained seven functional modules: performance showing module,unified user management module, performance data collection module, performancemanagement module, risk warning module, statistics and analysis module, andperformance knowledge module. It has achieved a clear, aestheticl and customizabledisplay for the performance data of the Mainframe system, variety of management forthe platform user, standardized form for the data collection, scientific management forthe Mainframe performance, timely and effective risk warning, intelligent statisticalanalysis and reports generation, a platform for the accumulation of maintenanceknowledge on Mainframe system.This system also has laid a certain foundation forour unit’s data mining in futrue.
