Stereo Vision technology is one of the main topics in the field of computer vision. In recent years, depth measurement technology has applied in many aspects, such as nondestructive testing, predictive maintenance, mobile robot navigation, medical image analysis, virtual reality, military survey and so on.Coaxial Stereo Vision, is a newly developed and an important branch of Stereo Vision technology. It has broad application prospects in mobile robot navigation, medical image analysis and military surveying&mapping. In Coaxial Stereo Vision technology, we shoot pictures of space objects through the same optical path and from the same point of view, with camera array. Then we analyze and process two or more images we obtained to calculate the depth information of the space objects to complete the three-dimensional reconstruction of space objects. This method avoids the shortcoming of Binocular Stereo Vision which needs a longer baseline.In this paper, I made a detailed description on depth measurement based on coaxial Stereo Vision. Coaxial stereo vision is a newly developed of technology, while the Binocular Stereo Vision was deeply researched. So in this paper, I learned from the research methods and results of Binocular Stereo Vision. Through comprehensively making use of photogrammetry measurement, stereo machine vision, digital image processing, C++and MATLAB, and so on, I studied Stereo Vision technology deeply. And I mainly researched and analysed the precision analysis of Coaxial Stereo Vision, image correction, pixel-level matching, sub-pixel matching, recovery of depth, as well as experimental verification. Particularly through the experimental verification by a prototype, and comparison between Coaxial Stereo Vision and Binocular Stereo Vision, I characterized the characteristics and keys of Coaxial Stereo Vision. In addition to these, I also introduced the rest corresponding part of Coaxial Stereo Vision.
