The Design And Implementation Of Data Warehouse Based On Nine-subject-model

After years of development, the majority of our commercial banking systems havebeen improved and implemented, the amount of data is much bigger, in order to betterapply these business data, small and medium commercial banks look through the datawarehouse to dig out its potential value to help decision-makers analyze business trends,make customer segmentation, know customer needs, analyze customer risk tolerance, sobanks are much competitive in the financial markets.In this paper, the data modeling method for data warehouse is discussed based onnine-subject areas theory. The phases of establishing a business data warehouse for abank is elaborated, including requirement analysis, design, development, deployment,operation and closure. Based on the study of nine-subject areas modeling method andrealities of situation of the specific bank, a logic model is designed and a physicalmodel is implemented. The following contents are emphasized in this paper:1. Describe and introduce the origin, development, modeling methods and relevantconcepts of data warehouse, and analyze the main technology.2. Introduce the standard processes of implementing the data warehouse in acommercial bank, elaborate the detailed specification of the main project phases,including requirements analysis, design, development, deployment, operation andclosing stage.3. Analyze and describe the keys and issues of data warehouse for middle and smallsizes banks, compare other two banks’data warehouses with this paper.4. Explore the logical model that fits the middle and small sizes banks, describethe design and implementation of logical data model and physical data model,combining with our actual situation, optimize the physical model.5. Describe this paper’s work on ETLand reporting, show the application andresults of the data warehouse, and do some experiments on reporting to verity theeffects of the data warehouse on bank.6. Summarize the research work and analyze the results.The main achievements of this paper are as the followings: the summary of thestandard process of implementing the data warehouse in a commercial bank; theprimary modeling method based on the nine-subject areas theory; the detailed design ofthe logical model; the design and implement of the physical model based on the situation of the specific bank.
