With the rapid development of Internet technology and the gradual progress oftri-network integration program in China, the various applications on multimediaresources have stepped into a new boom. Network multimedia applications alreadybecome irreplaceable in people’s daily life. In order to meet the demand, different kindsof network service technology came out increasingly. Meanwhile, the requirements onthe ability of embedded terminal to handle the media resources become higher andhigher. The internet TV risen up in recent years is one of the typical technologiesrepresents the embedded terminal.Currently, all Internet TVs have already the basic media information processingsoftware such as browser and player built-in. The consideration on impacts of the typeof terminal equipment and memory capacity on the user experience makes twosoftwares work separately in most of the time and it cannot meet the users’ demand onhaving an efficient, unified network media processing platform. Therefore, how tominimize the resources used to integrate the browser and player built-in the TV systemand provide a more user friendly and more efficient visual multimedia processingplatform become the most urgent questions need to be answered in recent years.This subject is designed based on the web player which is built in a LG intelligenttelevision system. By using Netscape plugin and Gstreamer multimedia frameworktechnique, the highly efficient integration of browser and player is achieved and thesystem becomes more suitable for the running of Internet TV platform and the contentplayed can be supervised by the Web player of The State Administration of Radio Filmand Television of China (SARFT) This thesis introduces the relevant technology of theWeb players. Meanwhile, the user demand of Internet TV Web player is analyzed.The designed extensible Web player architecture can work in cooperation with differentcontent operators. Browser plug-in technology is used to integrate browser with theplayer which provide a better user experience. The Gstreamer framework was combinedwith the design to build up the player system. The player master control module andpackage interface function were built based on the pipeline construction principle inorder to call out browser plug-in function of the browser and related operation easily.All elements work coordinal to achieve the functions such as data acquisition, decoding playback etc.On this basis, the corresponding improvement was made to optimize Internet TVWeb player performance and overcome the problems caused by limited networkbandwidth, lack of storage capacity and other factors. Further improvements onInternet television terminal equipment utilization and efficiency were achieved as well.The final test proves that both the design concept of the Web player functionality andefficiency have been satisfied and a stable supportfor a wide range of media resourcesis provided.
