| With the development of mobile communication technology, users put forward higher requirements for the quality of service of the network, they not only hope to connect to the network whenever and wherever, but also have the need for a better user experience and network performance. At the same time, there are various different access technologies in today’s wireless networks environment, the integration of heterogeneous wireless networks is an inevitable trend in the next generation network, and vertical handoff technology as an important part of mobility management technology, more and more people pay attention to this. LTE network and WIFI wireless network is two representatives in the next generation network, the vertical handoff algorithm should be discussed and analyzed.In this paper, the system architecture, key technology and relevant protocol of LTE network and WIFI wireless network are summarized, and the handover technology in heterogeneous wireless networks are briefly introduced, we focus our study on the existing vertical handoff algorithms, through the comparison of advantages and disadvantages of all kinds of algorithms, we proposed the innovation of our algorithm.This paper presents a new vertical handoff algorithm based on fuzzy logic, the algorithm firstly introduces a speed adaptive network discovery method, it can automatically adjust the update frequency of candidate networks set according to the different running speed of the mobile terminals; then puts forward a pre decision mechanism, according to user needs for a particular service, it can rapidly filter the candidate networks set, reduce unnecessary handoffs; then the paper describes the handoff decision strategy based on fuzzy logic, it is used to determine the optimal network and determine whether to handoff or not; at last the handoff execution. procedure of LTE network and WIFI wireless network in heterogeneous environment is described.In the end, in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, the simulation of the handoff algorithm run in the environment of MATLAB, and we compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with two normal vertical handoff algorithms, the simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the unnecessary handoffs, balance the whole networks resources and reduce the probability of call blocking and dropping. |
