Network topology discovery has been a hot topic in recent years, based on this foundation, further work can be done such as network performance indicators computing and evaluation of network behavior. Especially in the field of network security, topology discovery has become an integral part of the network security assessment system. In recent years, since each side has not yet matured, the rAPId development of cloud computing has been accompanied with security issues that cannot be ignored. Thus, research of cloud computing system topology discovery algorithm and implementation of the tool have great significance for cloud computing providers, security assessment system developers and users.The topic did a extensive research about traditional network topology discovery algorithms.Traditional network topology discovery algorithms are quite mature now. The basic idea is based on a variety of routing protocols, extract connectivity information between network nodes and the other nodes, then integrate and analyze the collected data, finally obtain the network topology. But because of the special nature of cloud computing system, this method is not feasible in cloud computing environment. profound analysis of the topological characteristics of cloud computing system is needed.Based on the existing topology discovery algorithm, some improvements are required to make the algorithm suitable for mainstream cloud computing environment. An important difference in topology structure between cloud computing system and traditional network system is that cloud computing system has higher requirements in the time delay and astringency of topology discovery algorithm. How to make topology discovery algorithm adapt to this requirement is the key to solve this problem. At the same time, because of the large-scale, how to show such a big topology diagram is an important issue too.This paper first describes the research of background, summarizes the background of topology discovery and relative technologies about cloud computing topology briefly. On the basis of analysis about traditional network topology discovery algorithms, this paper puts forward a topology discovery algorithm based on cloud computing system. Finally, this paper describes the design and implementation of topology tool based on this algorithm.
