Research And Implementation Of OMCI-based GPON Management System

With user demands for bandwidth being growing and GPON technology of itsadvantages such as large access bandwidth, high quality services, high system capacity,wide coverage and so on,GPON technology wons the flavor of the major operators andequipment providers,but as GPON technology itself is more complex, and the relevantagreement has not been fully detailed and perfected, so each GPON equipment providers inthe realization of each system has certain degree of difference, which makes manyproblems when different GPON systems interoperate from different vendors, so thisrequires a standard for GPON system to provide a unified management approach. Thisarticle mainly based on analysis OMCI protocol designs the GPON management solutionsand achieves the most important of OMCI management module to achieve the purpose ofresearch.In this paper, First by analyzing the current the GPON management status the need forGPON OMCI management program is proposed; Second we introduce GPON systemcomponents and the comperasion of a variety of the current managements, and describe theimplementation principle and implementation processes based on OMCI managementmethods; Third on these basis by analyzing the various functional modules provided byOMCI protocol, we propose an overall framework of design based on the linux GPONsystem to achieve OMCI management,and the focus is to complete OMCI managementdesign by the C language under linux system in the concrete realization of the variousfunctional modules in the OLT and ONU; Last through the voice services to demonstratethe realization of the solution of OMCI management based on linux GPON system to befeasible.The major significance of this article is OMCI (ONU management and controlinterface) making the different GPON systems provided by different equipment providersunder a unified management agreement to achieve a good interoperability,and forming aunified management of GPON equipment,at the same time reducing management and maintenance costs for operators favor, so that the research about GPON managementapproach based on OMCI protocol has important practical significance and the actualeconomic benefits.
