| In the third generation mobile communication systems, WCDMA has been used and deployedmost widely. After the introduction of HSPA technology, WCDMA can provide much higher datarate both of uplink and downlink than the other two standards. Currently, WCDMA is evolving tothe higher version, and before the advent of Fourth Generation Communication System, upgradingthe WCDMA networks are a common choice for major telecom operators.This thesis will firstly start from the processing of WCDMA downlink signal, the understandingof the system principle and the data processing of physical layer, as well as the examine of data rate.Secondly, this thesis takes a research of the capacity of both uplink and downlink of WCDMAnetwork, and gives the capacity formula of system capacity formula with single-rate. Based on theabove result, we take an analysis of system capacity with multi-rate conditions and give thesimulation results. In addition, this thesis will examine the impact to the system capacity by softhandoff, the gain of soft handoff being decided by the chosen algorithm of power allocation. Withanalyzing the power allocation in the presence or absence of soft handoff, the simulation resultswould be given. At the end, we take a brief study of the relevant technologies for HSPA+, theperformance of network planning, and the development and optimization of network, which hassome value for consulting, combining the latest testing data and simulation results provided byoperators’ and network equipment manufacturer in the study.In short, through the studying of this paper, we hope to present some reference materials for theresearch of corresponding technology and wireless network planning of WCDMA. |
