The existing network equipment stack technology is far from satisfactory at the aspectof reliability, usability and manageability. In order to meet the demand of practical use, network equipment stack technique is proposed to solve the corresponding problems. Suchtechnique simplifies the network structure and reduces the cost of operation andmanagement, meanwhile ensuring the performance of network equipment. Thereforenetwork equipment stack technique has become a trend and inevitable choice. This paper first studies the realization of several device network equipment stacktechnique. Through to the domestic and foreign correlation data analysis and comparison,we proposed Intelligent Stack System (ISS), a new-type network equipment stacktechnique. The aim of ISS is to link multiple network devices through physical ports, thensimulate a "distributed equipment" which is a logical separate exchange unit running in thenetwork. Such design extend the equipment’s port density, improve usability, simplifyoperation of the network and reduce the workload of the management. In addition, on the basis of theoretical research, this paper designs an ISS system andgives the details of the system realization. It conclude the formation of theneighborhood, the maintenance and formation of topo, and the synchronization of configurefile and real-time data. At last, we test its basic function and synchronization function. Results show that this system can not only satisfy the design requirements and run stably, but also achieve the desired function, and improve the network reliability. The stack technique of ISS describes in this paper can mend the shortcomings of othernetwork equipment stack technique, and realizes new-type functions. This technique makesgreat progress at the aspects of poor performance of network convergence, trifles ofmanagement, and high cost of upgrade which are the weakness of current network.
