Design And Implementation Of Distributed Workflow Management System Based On Galaxie

Distributed Workflow Management System could partly improve the performance bottleneck and singleton point of failure of the centralized system. However, most of the distributed systems can’t be converted to generic products easily, or do not solve the problem of center thoroughly.A general distributed computing platform, named Galaxie, developed by State Key Laboratory of Networking and Switching Technology. The platform uses P2P mechanism to organize all computing nodes and the event driven asynchronous communication mechanism between the nodes.Because of the versatility of Galaxie and the reciprocity of nodes, this dissertation designed and implemented the distributed workflow management system based on Galaxie with some functions. First of all, customizable process choreography completes serial and branching arrangement of business activities. Secondly, business processes management maintains the global unified view of all processes deployed on all nodes. Then, business activity scheduling promotes that each activity on a same node could get equitable execution. Finally, release and update of process ensure that any change of business process can be propagated to every node in the system as soon as possible.The distributed workflow management system of this dissertation could be converted generic product, and greatly solve the problem of center.Technology roadmap and points are unambiguous. First one is to encapsulate the event to activity to be scheduled in the system. Then it is to extend the existing event types and process element types, implement the process download. The last one is to accomplish the customizable process arrangement, using the process model with script and rules. At the end of this dissertation, a demo application was designed to test and verify the important system functions. The result showed that the design and implementation already covered all of the requirements and satisfied the design goals.
