WeChat has attracted more than600million registered users since its release in2011,it has become the most popular mobile instant communication software inAsia, it is more and more favored by the users and gradually become anindispensable communication tool in our life,even becomes a lifestyle of people,why people use WeChat?What are the factors that affect the user’s intention to useWeChat?It is the core issue of this paper.According to the communication features of WeChat,the paper is based on theuses and gratifications theory and the technology acceptance model,selecting the“ritual use”,“instrumental use”,“perceived ease of use” and “perceived usefulness”as variables to construct the model of intentions of WeChat User,putting forward theresearch hypothesis,then the model and hypotheses are tested according to thesurvey data,finally come to the following conclusions:the motivation for ritualizeduse and the motivation for instrumental use had positive effects on both perceivedease of use and perceived usefulness. Perceived ease of use has a positive effect onperceived usefulness. Perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness had positiveinfluence on the intention of WeChat user.The research makes up for the defects of uses and gratifications theory aboutindividualism, also explains why people accept and use a particular technology, andwhy people use WeChat. The findings of this study validate a theoretical frameworkthat integrates uses and gratifications theory and the technology acceptance model asapplied to a practical model for understanding the effects of users’ motivations to useWechat. Therefore,this study has theoretical significance and practical significance.
