The effective access to information, and safe processing and transmission of the information have been more and more important to the development of a country. Cloud computing is more widely used in the information industry in recent years, the information security needs a variety of symmetric key algorithms in combination. People demand for an efficient password system with a variety of cryptographic algorithms.To meet the users’needs for a variety of algorithms, this paper analyses all algorithms and makes a logic separation, and presents a symmetric key algorithm hardware architecture, which is based on the characteristics of each algorithm. It efficiently implements various algorithms in the same operation module by using basic arithmetic unit reconfigurable method. The architecture is easy to extend with a new symmetric key algorithm.This paper sets up a complete functional verification platform, and the use of simple and random stimulus ensures the functional correctness of the architecture design. Under the logical process of SMIC0.13um the frequency reaches more than200MHz, and the circuit area reaches0.33mm2. The simulation results show that the proposed architecture has a better throughput and uses smaller area than the existing design when implementing the same kind of algorithm. When implementing more algorithms, it has a very small increase in the circuit area. The architecture has excellent performance competitiveness.
