Industrial virtual simulation, based on virtual roaming, through three-dimensional modeling, not only has the characteristics of virtual reality’s immersion and imagination, but also has mainstream industrial control software functions. It plays an important role in production control and guidance teaching. However, there exits some problems in domestic virtual simulation systems. For example, the function is rather simple, the expansion ability is not strong and so on. These systems are mainly in the emphasis on the virtual tour, the models do not have the design versatility, and the open source code is difficult to meet the limited needs of individual users. All issues above make the simulation system very long development cycle and expensive.In this paper, the feasibility of virtual simulation system is studied based on a platform Unity3d game engine and mainstream3ds max modeling software for the grinding scene. First, on analysis of scene images and process equipment, using3ds max the three-dimensional models are established, whose proportion and position are similar to the physical models, and some of the Unity3d modeling specification is highlighted. Secondly, it introduces the user interface and basic functions of Unity3d, and explains the animation, the database and the data display, then gives the specific design ideas and solutions related to the Unity3d particle systems, physical systems, plug-ins and ray detection technology. Finally, the models and key technologies are assembled together to form a complete grinding plant virtual simulation system. This paper describes the implementation steps, debug methods and operating status of the system.By using the method of this study, a virtual simulation system developed by Unity3d engine platform is feasible and effective. In the background of three-dimensional technology being widely spread and the engine platforms becoming more powerful, a perfect and effective industrial virtual simulation system can be realized, and will play an important role in industrial practice.
