Distributed Control System is a multi-level computer system containing process monitoring and process control. This system combines computer technology, commu-nication technology, CRT technology and control technology to guarantee the following features:decentralized control, centralized operation, hierarchical management and flexible configuration. EtherCAT fieldbus is a new rising Industrial Ethernet bus, which is widely used in automatic control system. The speed of data communication is very fast and it has excellent real-time and synchronization performance. It also has flexible topology, and the master-slaves mode of communication is very suitable for distributed control system.In this thesis a distributed control system based on EtherCAT fieldbus is developed. The system used configuration software "Kingview" to configurate, and used EtherCAT fieldbus data to communicate. An EtherCAT slave device based on EtherCAT slave controller chip ET1100and STM32MCU is designed and developed, which is controlled by EtherCAT master software TwinCAT. After that, the data exchange between "Kingview" and TwinCAT software by ADS interface and OPC protocol is realized, In this way, the thesis successfully built a complete distributed control system.The thesis involves several innovation points as below:Firstly, by using ET1100chip, the multi-functional, low-cost EtherCAT slave device is independently developed, which can be applied into DCS systems, motion control and other fields. Secondly, the EtherCAT field-bus is applied in distributed control system, making the communication performance of the system greatly improved compared to the normal distributed control systems, mainly in communication speed, real-time performance and the synchronous performance between different devices.
