With the advancement of technology, the demand for public safety is constantlyincreasing. So a lot of important places have deployed surveillance cameras recording alot of video data. Due to the limitations of human resources, browsing massive video datais not only time-consuming and labor-intensive, but also easy to miss importantinformation. So, how to efficiently browse surveillance video content has become theurgent needs of the surveillance industry. By succinctly expressing surveillance video datacontent has become a research focus and nodus in the field of video surveillance in orderto view the video afterwards, query and analysis.So it’s difficult to achieve good results in practical applications.To solve this problem,this paper realized an object-based surveillance video synopsis system which can generatea compact video synopsis of original surveillance video without losing activityinformation. The main contents of this paper are as follows:Moving object detection andtracking: A background subtraction method is used to detect moving objects and usingmotion continuity matching algorithm to track moving objects.Storage and retrieval ofobjects snapshots: With indexing technique and memory mapped file, the system can storeand read pixel data rapidly.Moving object trajectories rearrangement: As background isfixed in the monitoring scenario, the tactics that shift the trajectories along the time axis isadopted. Simulated Annealing is used to minimize the energy function. We established anenergy function to quantify the effect of shifting. Simulated Annealing is used to minimizethe energy function, thereby getting the time shift vector.Generation of synopsis video file:From the time shift vector, we can calculate the frame of synopsis video and then synopsisvideo can be generated by encoding all the frames.Implementation of synopsis browsermodule: Users can more easily view a summary video and obtain further information ofinterested target with the help of specialized video player.The results of experiments show that the system can generate synopsis for surveillance video greatly shortening browsing time while keeping the integrity of activityin the original video.
