As the Internet instant messenger exchange service, Instant Messenger (IM) has been afavorite of many groups for its high efficiency and diverse kinds of information. Especially inrecent years, with the popularity of mobile terminal equipment, development of mobile terminalhardware, and the arrival of4G, IM is coming into the Mobile Age. As one of IM’s importantinformation media, image is getting more popular for its intuitive and affluent informationtransfer.Personal information, sensitive information and business information which are not suitablefor public are often contained in images. Owing to internet security problems, negative impacts onindividuals and society will be caused when the images are stolen. Therefore, image encryption isa significant part of the instant messaging. Due to limitations of the mobile terminal memory andthe computing unit ability, the traditional approach is that images are encrypted on the server-side,then encrypted images are transferred to mobile terminals. However, more time and morebandwidth are required and the image can’t be encrypted anywhere on users’mobile devices.The Instant Messenger platform is generated for Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress withinformationized means, aimd the goal of building "Four Centers" and a socialist moderninternational metropolis that are proposed by the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee andMunicipal Government. The Instant Messenger Platform is an information technology tool for theShanghai People’s Congress. It is fully functional for instant messaging and is integrated withmultiple Digital City technology. Besides, it realize the precise, agile and efficient urbanmanagement through technologies and management innovations. It contributes to creating aharmonious, clean, safe and beautiful urban environment.As an important part of the Instant Messaging Platform, Image Encryption system comparesthe mainstream image encryption algorithms, an improved chaotic sequence transform algorithmwas chosen for image encryption which ensures the security of image encryption. As aninnovation, a selection box is used to allow user to choose the area to be encrypted. This way notonly promises the encryption of sensitive information, but also minimizes the amount of computation. As a result, it the efficiency of encryption is improved and the problem of memoryoverflow when encrypting images on mobile terminals is solved. Multi-threaded computing isused as the other innovation, the mobile terminal processor is taken full use to improves theencryption efficiency and solve the problem of the unresponsive image encryption on mobileterminal.The experiment shows that the image encryption time of Instant Messenger Platform is thesame as a third of the traditional practice time, and the problems of application not response rarelyappear when encrypting images on the mobile terminal. The system has reached good resultswhen processing different sizes of graphics, images under the size of2560x1440can beprocessed without memory overflow problems at all.
