Research Of Cable TV Operators’ Business Development Dilemma And Breakthrough Strategy Under The Trend Of Three Network Convergence

In the 21st century, information industry has been becoming a key industry in national and regional economies achieving the organic growth. With the rapid development of information and communication technologies(ICT) and IP network technology, convergence of telecom network, cable TV (CATV) network and Internet network has become an inevitable trend in the digital age of information and communication industry.The difficulties and challenges Cable TV network is faced are as follows:It is very difficult for network integration because of dispersed networks resources; the channel position is weakening and it is lack of core competitiveness; the prime operating income is reducing, value-added services income growth is more slowly; it has a closed platform and low degree of marketization; There is a huge financial pressure for bidirectional network reconstruction and development of value-added services.This paper’s layout mainly base on the following ideas and structure:the first chapter describes the background and significance of research and the theoretical basis of the paper; the second chapter presents the development of three network convergence based on the application of Porter’s five forces model, SWOT analysis model and the Prisoner’s Dilemma theory and sums up the cable TV network’s business development dilemma; The third chapter puts forward some breakthrough strategies; the fourth chapter takes Nanjing cable "cloud media" as a case studies to verify the feasibility of breakthrough strategies proposed in the third chapter. The last chapter summaries the whole article.The paper draw the conclusion that the cable TV operators breaks through network short-plate and capital dilemma by integrating channel resources and public financing, provide value-added services and improve the users’experience by opening the platform and the development of Internet applications&content. Nanjing cable has been developed about 5 years since Nanjing becomes one of the the first batch of 12 pilot cities approved by State Council.
