| The concept of media and information literacy did not appear until 2012. In august, 2012, the third session of the international academic seminar on the media literacy education was held in Lanzhou, sponsored by the Communication University of China and Bureau of Gansu Radio Film and TV. In this seminar, the concept of "media and information literacy", was first proposed, arising the attention of domestic news media scholars, and the scholars began to study "the media and information literacy". In September 2014, the teaching conference of UNESCO global media literacy and inter-culture was held in Tsinghua University, one of the six forum of the conference under the topics have included "media and information literacy", so it is generally believed that the research of media literacy has evolved into a "media and information literacy" with the global development of information integration. One of the six forums was launched around "media and information literacy education" and the scholars all over the world conducted in-depth discussion on this issue. Therefore, the study of media and information literacy has become the focus attention of scholars in recent years.Media and information literacy education is still at the starting stage in our country, this article studies the challenges and strategies in the promotion of media and information literacy in china; combing with the analysis on the existing literature of the current situation of China’s media literacy and information literacy education to predict the development trend of China’s media and information literacy education.Through the method of case analysis and literature review, this paper studies the current problems in promoting media and information literacy education from the aspects of the short of support for media environment deterioration, lack of consciousness of audience media literacy education and lack of complete plan for domestic system of media literacy education. in addition, this paper points out the existing challenge on the media and information literacy education from the aspects of the object, content, function and its uncertainty Finally, based on the research of the scholars, the paper put forward some constructive strategies to promote China’s media and information literacy education. |
