Abstract/Summary:
Realistic graphics rendering is an important content of the current research in the field of computer graphics, and also the core technology of the graphics processing. Special movie effects simulation,3D games, scientific visualization, simulation of natural scenery and virtual systems put forward higher requirements for graphics rendering techniques. Realistic graphics rendering is related to mathematics, physics and psychology, etc. At present, domestic research in this area focus on the software, abroad research of realistic graphics rendering hardware implementations is also in the stage of exploration.This paper designs a ray tracing IP with the study of the above requirements, integrated circuit technology and graphics rendering technology. The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, the paper introduces the related knowledge about computer graphics rendering, and describes the evolution of the lighting models.Then, the paper study the most popular global illumination algorithms, and the basic principles of ray tracing, key technologies of light traversal and the intersection test.Subsequently, the paper give a detailed description of the ray-tracing-based realistic graphic rendering IP. The design with ASIC technology enables ray tracing to produce highly realistic graphics. And KD-Tree and BVH traversal supports both static scenes and dynamic scenes.Finally, the paper presents the verification results of ray-tracing-based realistic graphics rendering IP, including module-level verification and system-level verification.The innovation lies in:on the one hand, the design supports both KD-Tree structure of static scenes and BVH structure of dynamic scenes; on the other hand, Based on advanced IC design technology, this design enables ray-tracing-based graphics rendering, and provide improvements in processing speed and processing performance. So, the design has important significance and application prospects.
