In recent years, with the rapid development of automation and computer network technology, the industrial field bus technology has been optimized and improved. At the same time, it is widely used in the industrial network. In the field bus, PROFIBUS-DP has fast transmission speed and strong anti-interference capability. Simultaneously, it is safe, reliable, and convenient to use, occupying a considerable share of market in the industrial field. However, in complicated industrial field, there are many hard-wiring occasions, leading to a big limit to use PROFIBUS-DP. Therefore, it is very important to combine certain wireless networks with wired data transmission of PROFIBUS-DP network by utilizing a new technology. Although Zig Bee is a new wireless network, depending on its advantages of high reliability, low-cost and low-power, high security and so on, it is standing out in many other wireless technologies, and has become the primary choice to transforming data mutually between the wired and wireless network in the industrial control network.This study has a depth analysis of PROFIBUS-DP field bus and Zig Bee wireless protocol, as well as gives a two-chip solution of microcontroller + protocol chip + wireless module,then using MCU and protocols to achieve PROFIBUS-DP chip bus function, using a dedicated wireless chip and antenna to build a wireless communication network. And based on it, the circuit design and software design of each functional module is completed. Finally, referring to the practical application of the industrial site and conditions, using the Siemens S7-300 PLC, PC machine, oscilloscopes and Profi Core monitor, with the corresponding test software, the paper builds experiment platform which fuse PROFIBUS-DP network and Zig Bee wireless communication network, testing PROFIBUS-DP/Zig Bee wireless nodes in two basic modes of multicast and broadcast communication experiment. Then this study has an analysis based on experimental data, and confirms that the modules reach the desired requirements.The features of this paper are transformation between wired PROFIBUS-DP bus and Zig Bee wireless network, and achieving the Fault Recognition Function by using isolation technique in the mechanism of PROFIBUS-DP. Both of them help users quickly locate the problem node and significantly shorten cycle time and cost of troubleshooting.
