The writer take the advantage of Expo, come into contact with the Siemens SiteIQ wide area monitoring system, which solve the problem that other system didn’t solve ever before.1) The system solve the problem that traditional wide area monitoring has many screens. That is because the terminal display is formed by the matrix or the DVR. It is divided into several pictures on single display. For a certain big scale monitoring system, it’s not stranger to have more than 50 monitor screens. This resulted in the monitoring person’s attention is greatly dispersed. A survey shows after a common security person focus on watching 4 pictures for 5 minutes,90% of the contents he saw has been forgotten. But SiteIQ just use a single frame as the key point for security person, which greatly improve the efficiency. Integrating several frame into single is not only for liberating the security person. What is more important, all the zone settings, suspects or the trajectory of the object are set and display in a single frame. That give the security person an eagle’s eyes.2) The traditional monitoring system need many webcams for wide area application in order to cover everywhere. But SitelQ only needs a small amount for the same coverage. For example of Shanghai Expo river fence monitoring system, they only use 37 webcams for the area of 11 km perimeter. Experiments show that the system indeed greatly improved the efficiency of security person. It makes the traditional "check after" monitoring system upgrade to "intervene in" and did a great job in the Expo.
