Satellite communication system plays an irreplaceable role in the defense industry and civil sectors of the economy, with the rapid development of modern information technology, many countries have established a satellite communication system based on its technical support, including the navigation satellite system, measuring satellite system, relay satellite system. In the satellite communication system, in order to ensure the reliable transmission of informa tion, should comprehensive consideration and research to the antenna of system.This paper mainly studies the circularly polarized antenna of wide angle coverage that can be applied to the airborne or vehicle satellite communication system. In consideration of the special application environment, this paper adopts the conical spiral with circular polarization of the stereo structure to achieve wide angle coverage characteristics.Firstly, the paper discusses the research background in detail, comprehensively narrated the research difficulties and research value of this task, this paper briefly introduced the present situation of foreign research on circular polarization antenna can be applied to airborne or vehicle mounted satellite communication field wide angle coverage. Secondly, introduces the basic theory of frequency helical antenna and the four arm spiral antenna of the two kinds of common spiral structure system, then expounds the basic theory of wideband feed structure which can be matched with the two spiral structure. In the grasp of the basis of these theories, in accordance with the design requirements and comprehensive consideration of environmental impact, two kinds of circular polarized antenna with wide angular coverage are designed which can be applied to airborne or vehicle communication system.First, according to the frequency helical antenna and wideband balun structure theory base, a pair of arms spiral antenna is designed, realization of the wide beam, miniaturization and wide band. Two, according to the four arm spiral antenna principle, a conical four arm spiral antenna is designed, then studies the divider, phase shifting network and antenna integrated. Based on the realization of wide beam and small characteristic, further improved after the valve characteristics.The paper firstly carried out simulation analysis on the antenna, then according to the antenna model processing after optimization and installed antenna prototype, finally measured the main electrical performance of ante nna prototype. Comparison between computer simulation and prototype test results show that the designed antenna can meet the needs of engineering.
